BIG update for XBox360 due starting tomorrow


Starting from tomorrow and continuing into the early part of 2012 comes a large update to the XBox 360, not only in new services such as BBC iPlayer for UK customers but in a new user interface and menus.

The new menus are to be the METRO style like those seen on the Windows Mobile 7 phone and in the next version of the Windows Operating System in Windows 8.

“A new era in entertainment begins where all your entertainment is together in one place — your games, movies, TV shows, music and sports,” said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “With this update, Xbox 360 system owners will experience Kinect voice control integrated with Bing search, making your TV and entertainment experiences more social and personal than ever.”

Microsoft Xbox360 Kinect outsells rival Sony PlayStation Move.

The Xbox360 Kinect system with its controller free controls has captured the gaming console gamers in their millions as it looks as if from the figures below that gamers are not taking to still using some sort of controller.

“PlayStation has shipped more than eight million units of its new Move controller since last September, figures show.

That’s at least two million fewer than rival Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect, despite the fact that it’s been on sale two months longer.”
